North Carolina March 2016
Visited Brevard for Dad Patton's 90th birthday party. Enjoyed catching up with family from across the US. Visited Clemson Campus and football weight room and camped at Davidson River National Forest. Hiked four miles up Looking Glass Rock (1,600 vertical climb). Our first "trip" camping spot will be hard to beat. So will the soreness in our legs.
Nevada and Lake Shasta June 2016
With our sights on the Cool Oregon Coast, we traveled west thru Las Vegas, north to Reno. Spent a night in the parking lot of a brothel!, two nights in Fallen NV and several at Shasta Lake's Antler National Campground. Enjoyed the Casinos' air conditioning but didn't have much luck otherwise.
What a long June!!
Toured John Deere Harvester factory and Visitor Center and Caterpillar Visitor Center. A lot going-on throughout the farm belt of the US...and now on to the mountains!
Yes we finally sold the beautiful lakefront house in May to a family that will really enjoy it. Never thought I would have a smile on my face bringing a big check to closing... but in the end everything worked out just fine. As you can see, the RV'S cubbard is stocked with essentials for our long trip. Be sure to click on our favorite "hidden photo"...the one of Lake Eva.
Florence KY & Ft Wayne IN
May 2016 Tom got the opportunity to visit an old friend, Clint Brown, who allowed us to park at his baseball stadium, home of the Florence Freedom.
After a nice dinner with Clint and Kim, where we learned why Florence has so many geese, we moved onto Ft. Wayne for planned RV maintenance. We visited Western Michigan University campus, camped at Pokagen State Park (Tom wants to do the Toboggan Run sometime) then toured RV heartland of America in Northern Indiana.
We escaped to the Keys for a few days while we waited for house sale actions like surveys, inspections and loans to be processed. Highway 1's Mile Post 56 is a unforgettable place to call our starting point.

On our way to the Kentucky Derby, we hustled from Florida to the Tennessee / Kentucky border so we could relax, camping at one location on a beautiful 10,000 acre lake. Corps of Engineers scores big again with a great site at Bailey's Point for four nights before the Derby on Saturday May 7, Visited the stunning Mammoth Caves National Park.
Arches National Park June 2016
Camped at Moab Utah, 100 degrees in the shade, while exploring Arches Nat Park. Getting lots of exercise climbing around the rocks. Scenery in Utah is amazing.
Zion National Park June 2016
Thank goodness this park shuttles all visitors to the viewing points! Over 100 degrees still, drank lots of water (and beer), found little shade, but well worth it. Camped at Red Rock Canyon all week, as the Utah parks are fairly close together.
May 2016 "Back Home Again in Indiana" in a couple of the best seats at the Indy race track. I missed Jim Nabors and my mom's singing of the State song. We really enjoyed the race, time trials, Journey concert, camping and visiting with my brother and his wife. Very fun being a small participant at the largest sports event ever held -- 350,000 people! One highlight was recreating a 1968 interview my brother had with then rookie Mario Andretti,
We toured Indy's excellent museums, galleries and saw the home Tom lived in as a boy. Indy Zoo had a great LEGO display!
Oregon Coast July 2016
We have arrived! Pull out the jackets! 70's for highs and cold nights! So Beautiful. Fourth of July fun with friends in Port Orford, where we parked on the street for days. Minus tide exposed colorful sea life on the rocks. We house hunted from Brookings to Newport. Camped at Tillicum and Beachside. Found the perfect home in Yachats (Yaa Hots) and celebrated our accepted offer with long beach walks, fresh grilled oysters, and fun with friends.
May 2016 We secured a campsite six blocks from Churchill Downs and spent three days at the track. First day, we had to bet on "R Great Adventure" and he won at 8:1. Kentucky Derby and the Oaks were both fun days. Lots of Mint Juleps, now a new favorite drink.
Our $20 investment at Salvation Army provided a suit and dress perfect for the occasion.
Bryce Canyon National Park June 2016
Dry -camped at Red Rock Canyon, one of the best spots on the trip so far. Lots of hiking, but a fire near Cedar City impaired visibility. These vistas are not for the faint of heart!!
Colorado Rockies and Denver June 2016
In Denver we attended a Colorado Rockies baseball game against the Yankees. Then traveled I-70, over the highest pass on the Interstate Highway system (11,982 feet), to the striking Colorado National Monument
